Dear Colleagues,
As part of the implementation of the Future of Work Task Force recommendation to expand the flexible work arrangement offerings available to staff employees, I am pleased to announce the FlexWork@RU Application System is now open. The system is designed to allow employees to submit their application for a flexible work arrangement and department heads to review and monitor applications. The system will track remote work locations to ensure appropriate taxation of wages and adherence to state and local wage laws.
Before submitting an application, employees must review the revised Rutgers Flexible Work Arrangement Policy and FlexWork@RU Pilot Program Guidelines, and complete a Department Needs Assessment and Team Agreement with their department head or designee. Failure to complete these steps may result in denial of your application and delays in the effective date of your flexible work arrangement.
Once the Department Needs Assessment and Team Agreement is complete, employees can enter their application into the FlexWork@RU System available on the myRutgers Portal. The flexible work arrangement option is located in PeopleSoft under Self Service. A System User Guide is available to help employees and department heads navigate through the application process.
Please keep in mind that all existing telecommuting plans expire on August 31, 2022. Therefore, employees must submit an application through the FlexWork@RU Application System no later than August 15, 2022. Department heads must review applications prior to September 1, 2022.
As a reminder, staff employees who are granted permission for such arrangements will be expected to work a minimum of three days per week on campus or at the Rutgers location to which the employee is regularly assigned to work. For the duration of the pilot program, the revised flexible work arrangement policy will be relaxed to allow maximum participation across all staff. The system is not intended to capture flexible work arrangement applications for faculty or student employees. We will be discussing with our labor union partners any mandatorily negotiable items in this amended Policy prior to September 1 and during the one-year relaxation period.
